How do I clean and store my night guard?
How to clean and store a Dental 99 splint or night guard
Daily cleaning
- Rinse with cool water immediately after removing
- Brush gently with a soft toothbrush - avoid toothpaste (it can be abrasive and scratch the surface)
- A small amount of mild dish soap is a suitable alternative
- Allow to air dry before storing
Storage
- Store dry in the case provided
- Do not leave in hot environments (e.g. a car dashboard) - heat can warp the splint
- Keep away from pets - they're attracted to the material
Getting used to it
- Allow a few nights to adjust to wearing it
- Some initial discomfort is normal
- Book a follow-up if the splint feels tight, loose, or creates a persistent sore spot - small adjustments can make a big difference
