What should I expect between root canal appointments?

Quick answer: The tooth should feel considerably better after stage one. Some tenderness when biting is normal.

Root canal therapy is completed across three appointments. Between them a temporary filling protects the tooth.

• Chew on the other side where you can
• Mild tenderness when biting is normal
• Take pain relief as you normally would if you need it

When to get in touch

If the temporary filling comes out, if pain returns and worsens, or if the tooth swells, contact us rather than waiting for the next stage.

Note: Completing all three stages matters. A tooth left partway through treatment can become infected again.
