What should I expect after teeth whitening?
Quick answer: Some sensitivity for a day or two is normal. Avoid staining food and drink for 48 hours.
- Sensitivity to cold is common and usually settles within 48 hours
- Avoid coffee, tea, red wine, curry and other strongly coloured food for two days
- Avoid smoking, which will undo the result quickly
Making it last
Regular brushing and flossing, keeping up with your six monthly Clean and Check Up, and using a straw for dark drinks all help. Results typically last between six months and two to three years depending on your habits.
Note: If sensitivity is severe or lasts more than a few days, get in touch.
