# What do linked accounts do?
**Quick answer:** They let you book and pay for another adult’s appointments, and transfer account credit to them, while they keep their own private records.
## How to link an account
Go to **Profile \> Linked Accounts \> Link Account** and send the invite by email, to the address on their Dental 99 account. You will both need your own account, and nothing is linked until they accept.
## Accepting an invite
Tap the push notification, or go to **Profile \> Linked Accounts \> Accept**. If you cannot find the invite, check it was sent to the same email address that is on your Dental 99 account.
## What linking does give you
- Book appointments on their behalf
- Pay for their treatment
- Transfer your account credit to them
## What linking does not give you
You cannot see another adult’s medical history, clinical notes, x-rays, treatment records, prescribed treatments or offered appointments. Those stay in their own app, and they complete their own medical history there and receive their own reminders. This is a requirement under Australian privacy law rather than a setting we could change.
**Note:** For children under 18, use dependents instead. Dependents work differently and do give you access to their records as their parent or guardian.
