How do I look after a temporary crown?
Quick answer: Avoid sticky and hard food on that side, and floss carefully by pulling the floss out sideways rather than up.
- Avoid chewing gum, toffee and anything sticky on that side
- Avoid hard food that could dislodge it
- Floss gently, sliding the floss out sideways rather than pulling it up through the contact
- Some sensitivity to hot and cold is normal
If it comes off
Keep it, do not throw it away, and get in touch. Leaving the prepared tooth uncovered can make it sensitive and can allow it to shift, which affects the fit of the permanent crown.
Note: Do not attempt to reattach it yourself with household glue.
